South American Journeys - Mission Statement

In an effort to balance our commitment to sustainable ecotourism, and to offset the effects of global warming, South American Journeys has created the Green Traveler Program.

We have initiated a reforestation project on 24 acres of land, which is part of the largest White Sanded Forests in the Amazon basin. Each client traveling with South American Journeys becomes an active sponsor of our reforestation program.

As a participant, you will not only learn and enjoy your interaction with different cultures and species, but respectively contribute to the protection and greatest beauty of our planet. A right deserved for future generations.

We believe that the native people in the Amazon will prosper and become exceptional stewards towards protecting the Rainforest and its fragile ecosystem through their direct involvement in tourism.

Instead of subsisting by means of employment at a lodge, they have significant opportunities to manage their own Guest Houses. This exciting option allows local home owners to become their own managers, with a greater sense of both giving gracious hospitality, and the financial rewards that follow.

Guides

Multilingual local guides complement our journeys. Best of all, you'll be traveling with Peruvians and Chileans who are happy to share the kinds of specialized knowledge, and details you'd share with visitors to your own home. To make your trip as fulfilling as possible, our groups are limited to a maximum of fifteen participants.

By traveling with a small group, you will have access to isolated areas that traditional tourists rarely enter. This also allows for the greatest intimacy with the locals, whom you will be meeting in their work settings and their homes.
